This is actually a HUGE deal. Kylie used to be terrified of the rain. I am not sure why - she loves bathtime and even let's us dump water on her hair. Ever since Aunt Pam has showed her how much fun the rain can be, she can't think of a better place to play. Ashlyn has always been a water baby, but, then, why shouldn't she be since her first introduction to planet earth was in water?

New haircut
I guess I was gone too long this morning - taking my 1 hour glucose test, working out and pumping gas - because I came home to see our baby girl with this haircut.

David has been threatening to do this, as he can't stand it in her eyes (neither can I, really). But I was not expecting it to be this short. I guess I am more sensitive about the short bangs, because, when I was little, I would always get a bang cut the day before school pictures and they were always too short which appeared in every yearbook. Oh, well, hair grows and she is still cute.

This what I was afraid of...
...That I would not put up a new post for nearly 10 days and feel guilty about it. So, this is good for me - learning not to feel guilty about trivial things in life. I know a lot has happened - events, thoughts, classes, church, etc. - and blogging helps me think of these things I normally take for granted or can't wait to get through. Now I am more mindful of taking pictures and noting my many blessings.

Yummy Granola
I have gotten a lot of recipes off some of my friends blogs,
so I
thought I would post the granola we made today. We love granola, but the ones from the store are too expensive and taste weird anyway. So here are some snap shots of Kylie and I making it as it evolves
. David is picky about granola, but this one passed his test (phew!:)). This is a basic recipe; I have not been brave enough to experiment with flavors yet. We all enjoy this recipe around here and making it has now become a weekly task.
Mix together: 2 c. oats, 1/4 c. wheat germ, 2 T. brown sugar, 1/4 t. salt and 1/3 c. walnuts (opt.)
Simmer 1/4 c. maple syrup, 3 T. canola oil, 1 T. water, 1/2 t. cinnamon
Combine the liquid mixture with the oat mixture and stir until completely coated. Spread evenly on a sprayed cookie sheet (but allow some chunks) and bake at 275 for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, add 1/3 c. raisins and 1/3 c. coconut and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Yum!

Have you ever seen anything like this?
It might be just us, be we think it is so funny that Ashlyn knows how to blow her own nose. She has been blowing her nose since around 13 months. We just put the tissue up to her nose, say, "Blow" and she does it. And it is not a whimping blow either - she gets some good stuff out. Since her nose has been a little runny, we have been blowing a lot lately, so she finds anything around the house that might be a good "tissue" and does it herself. Here, she found her sock and is using it; she has been seen blowing on clean washcloths, Kylie's jammies and my socks!

Just a side view...
So, I thought, for all the people who do not see me on a regular basis or who I am terrible at keeping in touch with, I would post this picture - 26 weeks pregnant with a boy. I know a lot of expecting women put up a ticker to count down the days, but I think I want one that counts how many days I have completed! I try not to count down to anything and just enjoy what is happening (something I struggle with) - not sure if this is possible while pregnant, but I can try, right? Oh, and yes, I know, I am not very photogenic - David lets me know that almost every 0time we take pictures.
